Good Friday racing
Just wanted to put this one out there.
What is the feeling about a stand alone Championship event on this coming Good Friday?
I have chatted with Mark and he has ideas which I hope he will put on here as well.
So,
What time should we start?
What should the formate be?
My feelings just to start things off are,
This could be the start of a yearly held Championship.
It should/could be 4 qualify rounds and 3 Finals (best 2 finals to count)
This all depends of on costings, availability of the hall and of course club members both willing to help and support.
I think a good cost could be £5 (for members) and £6 (non members). Extra class, members £1 non members £2.
On the subject of a starting time, I go for 16.00 meet and 17.00 qul rounds start. This I would
hope (depending on numbers racing) mean we could have the format above. Finish, about as normal.
Trophies presented at the end.
So let's have your thoughts and feed back please. It's your club what do YOU want to do?
Cheers Andy.

Good Friday Rading
Sounds good to me Andy, we will need to check on Friday of the availability of the hall but your
suggested timings are ok.
I have spoken to my dad about the prizes being "cash" rather than trophies, just an idea, any thoughts.
We can discuss Friday.

Re: Good Friday racing
We could be ready to race by 18:30 that is 1 and 1/2 hours early so depending on numbers racing we could still do 4 q's and 3 finals best 2 to count. But does really depend on numbers.
Could do 4 and 2 I suppose.
Come on people let's hear your thoughts.

Re: Good Friday racing
It does depend on numbers but we still could do 4 qualifying and 3 leg final with the two best to count but it might make it a late finish. Or how about 3 qualifying rounds and then a 3 leg final with the two best to count.

Re: Good Friday racing
Welcome back Jev,
Be great to see you back racing tomorrow.........NOT......LOL.
I hope you haven't picked up to many ideas from the boys down under!!!! You don't need them anyway.
As for the pit tyres, Darren couldn't get them to work at Capel but both him and Stuart got them working well at West Kent. Doesn't mean they don't work at Capel though.
See you tomorrow.

Re: Good Friday racing
OK, update on the GF meet.
Even though booking in will be on the day, can we please ask if you are racing with as at Capel and you are not a member of the club would you please post your name and Transponder number on here so that we can ease booking in and get the numbers into the computer ready to race.
We are doing this to TRY and get that extra round in.
Remember Hall opens at 17:30, Booking in close's 18:15, practice will be as soon as track is down and 1st round (Mini) WILL be at 18:30.
Cheers.

Re: Good Friday racing
That was a great night of FUN racing.
From my point of view ,in Mini, not a good one; but you have to take the rough with the smooth.
Anyway, I can't say how happy it was to see new racers from both West Kent and Maritime.
Simon, Tim, Grant and in support James, really great to see you down racing with us on our tiny track. Alan, to see you there when I walked in was such a "good suprise".
I hope all had a good night not just the "out of town" boys but the members who turn up week after week, making this one of the best places to race your Mini in F1 or F2 in the south. The racing was tight and fair for the Heats and with the mix of F1 and F2 seemed to work well.
Now to the Finals, racing was as expected, tight and fast.
F2 saw the silver cans gleaming with heat pushing the cars to their limit.
Pole went to Steve "147", close behind in 2nd was the up and coming "when he puts his mind to it" Joe. 3rd the "moving on up, moving on up" Shaun and in 4th, "Getting in touch with his feminine side" with his Pink car was Simon. 5th spot on the grid was "he needs somebody" Les. One of the out of town racers, Tim "Fish and chips" made it to 6th on the grid and making it to the F2 show in 7th was "out of the box" Jack.
F1 saw the Yellow banana of Top "Openreach superemo" Jevron was not going "up the pole" but "on pole" with the fast "on rails" railway worker of Darren close behind in 2nd. 3rd was a "Plum-base" spot for race organiser Mark. 4th was the frustrated "Don't you know who I am" Andy with Ossie/Ron Weasley "I didn't see you there" 5th and making it to the show in 6th "the night rider" Paul Fent.
If you want to see what happened then go to the vids and check out the racing.
Tourers saw the three top drivers dance with each other on the race floor for the top spot with myself taking pole, Alan "the gentleman of racing" in 2nd and the "Mechanic" Ian in 3rd.
I just want to add, We all know that one mistake means you have to do a lot of work to catch up and at times push to hard making issues for yourself and for others.
This was not just this week but will happen each and every week in Mini, Touring cars and any class.
Some say "That's Racing"................BUT...........Remember........It is only "Toy Cars" and it is supposed to be "FUN".
I can't say too much. When you're on the stage/rostrum it is very difficult to not want to win.
But for me it can't be at any cost. Maybe I shouldn't say to much, but if I have made a mistake, it plays on my mind for days.
Don't read to much into this just watch the vids.
So a great night of racing with (what I hope you don't mind me saying) racing friends. That will continue next year. The format might need to be changed or an earlier start might need to be sorted out. But it WILL be on next year.
So put this one in your diary for next year. The Good Friday meet will be.............guess when....
The vids are on the way and will take a while.
But for now, thanks for putting up with me and if you have any ideas about improving the racing then please let any of us know. If we don't know about it we can't fix it.
As always.......but this time for me, "I did Enjoy the Drive and the night".
Cheers Andy.
